Solve : ethernet problem?

Answer»

when i first installed windows on my computer, i thought i was never gonna use ethernet (just wireless), so i didn't install the drivers. now when i need to connect to ethernet, i tried INSTALLING the drivers for it, but it doesnt connect to the internet, there's not even an icon.
i have a dfi nf4 infinity motherboard, and i tried the drivers from the cd and the website, but they dont work.
any IDEAS how to fix this problem?joe_tucker..... Does the onboard ethernet adapter show up in your device manager ?

nope it doesn't
and im using windows xp sp2Do you have a entry called network adapters ?

dl65 yesjoe_tucker....ok ...... then click on the + sign in front of network adapters and you should see your ethernet adapter ........ is the DRIVER installed for it ? If it isnt for some reason ...there should be an exclamation mark showing .
You do have an account with some Internet service provider don't you ?
Have you tried going into the control panel/Network connections ....... when it opens ...... click on "create a new connection " and the wizard will appear and walk you through the set up.

dl65 Has the adapter been enabled in the BIOS setup?Quote

local area network doesnt even show up in network adapters. only my wireless

and under there it says the drivers arent installed for it.joe_tucker.... Quote
