Solve : External Harddrive Problem.? |
|
Answer» Hey, I've recently formated my external harddrive to WBFS, and now when I plug it in, the computer can't find it, I know it's because of formating it, but no other program I have found can format it right. I tried using Partition Master Home Edition to format it too NTFS, it did it but it has shrunk and is still not being seen by the computer. The harddrive is 1TB, does anyone have any IDEA what I can do? The hard drive is 1TB, does anyone have any idea what I can do?What did you intend to do? The format is not supported by Windows and is not a format used by others. It belongs to the one company and does not have to conform to any standard EXCEPT their own. Did you not understand that when you decided to format the drive in WBFS? It is piratically a one way street. What make is the 1 TB drive? Go to the manufactures site and find a program to reset the drive to factory settings. It's WD, Western Digital.Western Digital makes a wide range of external Hard Drives. The support page indicates that you need to specify the exact model number. Apparently the software support is not universal. You have ton DOWNLOAD a utility specific to the model. CERTAIN esoteric features of Hard Drive configuration and not normally visible to the user. Please go to the site and click on the support tab and then to the specific model and see if there are programs to return the drive to its factory format. Formatting these drives with Windows or any other program is not recommended unless the manufacturer STATES otherwise. http://www.wdc.com/en/Nevermind, turns out, I could reformat it by right clicking on My Computer and clicking Manage disk. Odd how it never worked on XP but on Windows 7 it did, anyway, thanks for trying to help. |
