Answer» I've WORKED on many supposedly dead external HDD's that when removed from the enclosure and hooked up internally were perfectly fine... I sincerely HOPE you have the same luck in this case.i have not had a chance to address this, but I think I am going to remove the HDD from it's enclosure this weekend and see if I can connect directly. See here.thanks for the link. i removed the HDD from the enclosure and tried to connect directly. that didn't work. i installed into another enclosure and it recognized it as a USB mass media device, but still nothing in windows explorer and nothing in DISK management. should i bother with the freezing thing? a friend TOLD me about some expensive software you can buy to recover the files? should i just take it to a professional?
