Solve : external laptop hard drive?

Answer»

Hi,
I was wondering if a laptop hard drive would work on a desktop pc, right now I only have a 6gb internal hard drive and my friend is flying over with a BUNCH of games I want to install on my computer.

I FOUND an external hard drive case on eBay, it connects via a USB cable and is supplied with a power adaptor, i sent an e-mail to the company selling it and they said it works on any computer as long as there is a free USB port.

3.5" external hard drive cases are to expensive and these 2.5" laptop ones on eBay are dirt cheap so are the laptop hard DRIVES, the reason I ask is because my motherboard is an oldie and it doesnt accept very big hard drive capacities so connecting one via a USB cable should work.
can your old mobo handle extract  usbs pnp devices?you may have to flash the bios to do this...and a laptop hard drive maybe better used by using an ide ADAPTER via an ide cable?Doesnt matter, I just bought a external hard drive off ebay, by the looks of it there is already an adaptor INSIDE the case that fits snuggly in the back of the hard drive, right now I have 5 free usb ports and I already updated the bios. Thanks anywayYou can get a cheap IDE adapter that will allow your laptop HDD to go into a regular PC.
