Answer» Have you guys heard of these? I'm not sure what they do, but I do hagve a question... If I got an external video card for my laptop, WOULD it be like installing a new card to the machine, like if I got a HIG definition card, would it play hd videos or whatever on my laptop? Meaning I could see it on the screen. I would like SOMETHING like that. Any information you got, I'm willing to listen!
thx
External video cards . . . if it's a USB video adapter, don;t expect much more than literally a video output. If you mean the Expresscard Asus XG video cards, then it would be like adding a better card to your laptop, but they TEND to be very expensive. Does that help?sure does. Because I have an NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go 64m and it is becoming a little outdated. So, maybe I'll put that on my christmas list....They are expensive and not exactly built for gaming etc. but for everyday use are fine. Which model are you considering ? ?If your laptop is that old, I doubt it's got an Expresscard slot for the Asus XG.well, I don't really know any models. Couldsomwone give me a list or whatever? I DO need one.
it is from 2005. It has a pcmcia card slot...Expresscard and PCMCIA are different unfortunately for you. I also wasn't aware of laptops with Geforce 4 graphics being produced that late.Really? I didn't think that was late. I mean it was the best card on the market at the time.I bought my laptop in early 2006, my X1600 mobility had been out for a while. Going over to Nvidia, the competitor was the Go 7600, before that the 6600, before that the FX series, then the 4 series. Your PARTICULAR card was launched in 2002, which is why it's surprising to see it in a laptop 3 years after its release. just an FYI - in 2005, the best laptop card would have been the mobility Radeon X800XT or the Geforce Go 6800.
