Answer» My Father recently bought this computer new off of Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883107495
When he first turned the thing on, it began to WORK, but locked up. Shortly thereafter, it stopped displaying altogether. No Beeps. No Display.
Let it sit an hour whilst I THOUGHT. Turned it on. It began to boot VISTA. Locked up. Hasn't worked since. Same problems. No beeps, no display. Also, the infamous orange loading light has yet to appear once.
It worked previously, so I know the Monitor isn't the problem. Tried checking the RAM one at a time. Nothing worked. Tried resetting/setting the Jumpers. Still didn't work. Let it sit without BATTERY. Didn't work. You can hear the hard drive spin. Fans work. Everything inside seems to be working.
I have to wonder if the frustratingly BRAND NEW motherboard is shot?
Any Ideas? There is a full One Year warranty on that machine...i would take advantage of that. Newegg is very good at customer service. In all my dealings with NewEgg, I've had good fortune, but apparently (and this is what my stubborn father tells me) They haven't gotten back to him at all. He can't get a hold of them, he says. Email nor phone. So I'm exploring the options of fixing it myself. That doesn't sound right...they are usually very responsive. Keep in mind attempting to fix it may VOID that warranty. Have you contacted them ? ? I'd try that first...especially for a new machine.
