Solve : Files Corrupted on RAID Array?

Answer»

I recently created a RAID 1 using two 400GB WD SATA hard drives and a HighPoint RocketRAID 1520 CONTROLLER.  The array is not my boot drive and is USED only to store music, movies, pictures, etc on a WinXP system.

The problem I am seeing is that any file written to the RAID has a chance of being slightly corrupted.  Pictures will often times have the colors slightly wrong or entire sections of the photo will be shifted out of place.  Music files often contain blips, beeps, and glitches.  I am sometimes able to create an error-free file on the RAID array after re-writing the data to the disk.

I am led to think the problem lies with the controller.  It was pretty cheap (~$60) but I think it should still be able to perform properly.  Does anyone have a suggestion?  Changing some settings on the controller, updating firmware, etc?  Anyone else have a similar problem?Disable windows write behind caching. You don't mention your OS, so click here for instructions.I tried to disable "Window write behind caching" but it is not an option on my disk.  The only two available options under the policy tab are "Optimize for QUICK removal" and "Optimize for performance" (which is selected).  However both options are GREYED out so neither can be changed.

I checked the policy tab on my other disk (a Seagate) and an option exists to turn off write-behind caching.  But on my Western Digital/RocketRAID array, no option exists.

Is there a way to disable it through the register?  Is there a good utility to use?  Btw, as mentioned above I am using a Windows XP system.
