Solve : Finding the RAM type.?

Answer»

Hi,
I have a number of PCs which I am investigating for upgrading or replacing. I need to know what RAM TYPES they use. I have run www.crucial.com against them all and found some of the information I need for some of the PCs. But Crucial does not always come up with the desired information.

Is there any software / Operating system way in which I can find out what RAM type these PCs use; I don't wish to undo the cases if I don't have to.

One PC uses xp the rest use Windows 2000 Professional.

Thanksi always found crucial tell you the right info...
what do you need to know?I really need to know : -

1) The Current Memory Type.

2) The motherboard's maximum memory capacity per slot and total.

3) The number of memory slots on the motherboard.

4) The current usage of those slots.

Crucial works on some PCs but not all. It even comes up with weird figures on some PCs. For instance, on one ancient PC it told me that the maximum memory capacity was 786432MB. On another PC it told me that the maximum memory capacity was 0.3125MB, when I know that it already has a figure of 448MB displayed on the System Properties menu.

Thanks DLoad and INSTALL Everest Home...
If the info provided on the older machines RAM is insufficient there will still be a link in the report to the MBoard manuf. website which should HELP find the data you need.
Good Luck. All these system scanners have their LIMITATIONS and will come up with weird results for certain PC's. Your best bet is to use the scanner to identify your motherboard and then look it up. The scanner should tell you the Front Side bus and any ram installed also and you will be able to use that to narrow it down. Check with some other companies scanners such as www.memorystock.com or www.diahmemory.comThanks,
Those extra sites allowed me to finish the Job
