Solve : First Time?

Answer»

ok this is my first EVER time BUILDING a COMPUTER, i have all of the components set up but when i turn it on, nothing pops up. I think it is because of my slave / master settings, i don't even know how to get them. I have a dvd rom and my hard drive set on IDE 1 and i don't know how to get that on master, i don't know if i need another cable or what, but i need help. Can someone please give me a tutorial with pictures.

thank you

http://www.helpwithpcs.com/upgrading/install-hard-drive.htmok i rebuilt the desktop. actually stays on now, but i have all my disk drives set up but i don't know what it means by slave and master.......... i have the power cord in the back of all of them and then they gray cord in the back of all of them...... am i supposed to have another one?....... i have all that set up but...... it says something about jumpers and that is where i get LOST....... and it won't even display anything on the monitor, no bootscreen nothing....... the cd/dvd drives won't open up neithererr..jumper for what?HDD?or the cd drive?
http://www.wdc.com/en/library/eide/2579-001037.pdfall, i don't have any jumpers in any of themok, the computer turns on but, nothing pops up....... the monitor isn't even recognized nothing..... none of the drives will open, hard drive light isn't busy.... etc..... i dunno if it is me being stupid or what........lolcheck your power connections to the video card.

this may be a long shot but I've had it happen: check the 115V/230V selector switch on your power supply. i have had it halfway between the two settings and everything fired up but there wasn't enough power to run the video card.wait, how much does my power supply have to be? i have a *censored* one, thats why lmao........ ummm but yeah, then why won't any of the disk drives open?post your systems specsECS N2U400-A motherboard, dunno processor (came with it), 1 256 ddr ram and 1 512 ddr ram. 80 gig hd dvd rom and cd rom and i dunno the video card...... seemd good though........ cables that plug into the back....... (2 monitors and other items etc....) try this:
