Solve : fixing a new hard drive?

Answer»

I have an old COMPUTER with me i want to start and get going. This computer had some problem.. what i was given to understand that the hard drive CRASHED. People tried to restore the hard drive, but finally gave up. And the computer was LYING idle for some time. Now there is no hard drive in it. Do you think if i procure a new hard drive and get some one to fix it will i need a recovery disk to start it up.The details of the PC is included here under.

Well you absolutley sure that the hard drive is broken? have you tr to format it do you hear it powerup. Do you see the Hard Drive at Bios Startup? Quote

Install the new HD yourself. Make sure is fdisk'd and formatted. You will need OS installation disk to install .THERE IS NO HARD DRIVE IN THE COMPUTER ANY MORE SO CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT TILL I GET ANOTHER HARD DRIVE.
+THE SAINT+2k_dummy,
do i need to have the old operating system which was windows 2000 or can i install another OS like Windows XP?
+THE SAINT+Install WHATEVER OS you have, as long as the system specs will support it.
