Solve : Flash drive help needed?

Answer»

When I get too many picture and video files on my laptop, I COPY all the files on to two flash drives. One I keep, the other I give to my dad "just in case". I always check that all files have moved and that I can open them on my dad's pc and my work pc.

Recently I moved files to a new Sony 8gb flash drive. I can see and open the files on my laptop. On every other computer I TRIED, I get a "No files" message. When I click "Properties" I can see that the drive is full. Searched online, saw on the Sony site that the drive MIGHT NEED to be reformated, followed their instructions, no go.

Bought a HP 32gb drive last week. Exact same THING. Can see and open everything on my laptop, but nowhere else. My laptop and two of the computers I tried run Windows 7, one Vista. I have been able to open files saved on flash drives from my laptop on all these computers in the past. Quote

Do you think the problem is with the Sony?
Presently, some Sony's are phoneys. It may be a cheap imitation.
Buy a flash drive with a warranty. If it does not work on every PC you have, send nit back.
What FileSystem are these drives using?FAT32at first glance, I though it's due to virus infection (where files are hidden), but reading the entire post, it's something unique.

Can you try to attach your flash drives to other computer, and see if you will have the same problem. Make sure that you will not attach the USB drive to your laptop before attaching it to other computer.
