Solve : flashing lcd monitor?

Answer» WHENEVER I turn on my monitor in the morning, it ALWAYS flashes for a few seconds, then the screen goes blank. Usually I've discovered that if I walk away for a few min., and then turn the monitor off and then on, it flashes for a longer period of time, then goes blank. If I then walk away a few more minutes and turn it off, then on, it usually flashes for a while, then goes to a steady picture.

I've tried gently hitting it, to no avail, nothing at all happens (besides the symptomatic flashing, then offness).

Also, this flashing activity does not occur once the picture stops flashing, as LONG as I leave the monitor on.

So, my question: This is a 22" flat screen LCD monitor, and I don't really have the finances to replace it right now so, is there any type of affordable repair that could be done on this monitor?

thanks for any advice Quite honestly, I personally don't know of any cheap repairs that would be better than replacing the monitor. Have you tried to reseat the cable for the monitor or even try the monitor on another computer to see if it STILL has the same problem?Quote

The flashing even occurs if I turn off the computer, and the monitor displays the "standby mode" message, so it cannot be related to the cable or the computer, unfortunately.HI again!

Now that I'm finally coming to terms with the eminent death of my dearly beloved monitor, I am considering an upgrade to a wide-screen monitor, however, how do I check to see if my video card can support the resolution that a wide-screen monitor would call for, without stretching the image?

my video card is the following:

NVIDIA GeForce 6200 Turbocache(TM)

(I got that info via device manager)
