Solve : Flatbed scanner?

Answer»

Hi all,
I am not computer or scanner WIZARD, so I need help to GET a good but not over the top scanner.
At this time I am using a HP scanjet 4470c which is 1200 dpi and 48 bit colour, (Just looked it up on the web) I have no idea what to look for in a scanner, is it the more dpi and bit the better   :-?
what I am looking for is a REPLACEMENT because I have Vista on the way and there is no drives for my HP.
I am sure there must be better scanners about now which have good QUALITY scans for about the £100 mark.
any help will be most welcome
Thanks

Before you go out and buy something please make sure that it is Vista compatible.

Nancy,
I looked up my HP "Scanjet 4470c" on the web and it seems that because of it's age, HP are not going to write any firmware so the unit can be use with Vista,
Ned
ps A friends old unit will run with Vista but his new will not !!  :-?
pps Thanks for that, AlanWhen you say you "have Vista on the way" does this mean you haven't installed it yet ? ?

If so why not run a dual-boot XP/Vista setup...i'm running it now this way.
