Solve : Forward slash key giving hash?

When I use forward slash key in my computer it is giving hash sign. Can any one give a SOLUTION to this problem ?Change your Regional SETTINGS in Control PANEL --> LANGUAGE and Regional Settings.Also if possible, borrow another keyboard from somewhere to rule out a faulty keyboard Another possibility is to use the numeric key pad.
Hole down the Alt and type 47 and release the Alt key. /

This is a workaround, not a fix though
