Solve : FX-57 upgrade?

Answer»

Hello all,
I need eduacated suggestions here.. I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. I currently have a AMD ATHLON 64 3500+ 2.2 Ghz processor. I WOULD like to upgrade my system without the big $$$. I already have 2G of memory and my motherboard seems to WORK great. I have no problem keeping the socket 939 for one last upgrade. The FX-57 2.8 Ghz processor is the best 939 socket they make. What is your opinions on this processor. Considering I can buy one $200 - $300, is its performance better than the competition in the price range? Or is the cost of a new motherboard and Intel processor going to be better. I use my machine for extreme gaming so I would like to stay at or above 2.8 Ghz. I'm also upgrading my grphics CARD but thats a different story! Thanksi dont have much time to explain, so in short, i would save up enough to buy a socket LGA775 or a AM2 motherboard. its not worth spending money on old hardware when you can get better hardware for around the same price.but then you'd consider all that older hardware you got. Like your ram sticks, your GRAPHICS card, etc.... right?it all depends on how much cash you have in hand...
how much is the maximum you will spend?
