Solve : Games and reduce of violent crimes?

Answer»

I know this is always an interesting topic. Although I'd imagine most of the forum users believe that games don't cause violence in humans. However, stumbled across this interesting picture depicting the decrease of crimes per 1,000 citizens.

The data is gathered from:

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/glance/tables/viortrdtab.htmCould it also be because more people are born therefore less people would take a criminal path as social care has become better, crime has become more organized and therefore harder to join? I very much doubt videogames are of any influence to either the lowering of crime or the rising. If any, they'd amount to rising crime because game consoles and games are very expensive and I can imagine youngsters needing to get the money from somewhere...

Besides that, less people could become victims due to increased security. Especially after terrorist attacks.

I find these numbers wholly inconclusive. I bet it's because all the 'criminals' are too busy playing games.

For example:
Instead of stealing a real car, they steal one in GRAND Thef Auto
Instead of KILLING someone in reality, they kill someone in Halo or something....Yeah, because we all know that criminals no longer need to make a living after they buy a game console. They need to make a very good living to get a games console over here, the PS3 is over £400.I'm sure those guys that jack Beemers and Jags are having alot more fun playing GTAuto...

But it just doesn't compare to the real thing... Quote

Lol, steal a random person's car on GTA and then do 150 on the highway and then 100 in the neighbourhood. Hit another car head on. Get out of the car and start shooting everyone and blowing up any passing cars on the highway. The lack of parental supervision in the last 25 years
has caused this.

Bring back all the Looney Tunes.

I am 55 raised on violent cartoons ie.. Looney Tunes.

I have no criminal records. Quote

In games like GTA, people can do WHATEVER they want, without repurcussions. They can also take out their anger on games, or just play to relax.Criminals aren't always angry people. Sometimes they might come to your house at night to kill you in cold blood without feeling a hint of emotion, Darkblade. When you're asleep, they'll be looking at you, fantasizing about how painful they can make it before GOING all mental and *censored*. STAB STAB STAB.

Nope, don't get that out of GTA I'm afraid.
