I have a gateway DESK top that's only 3 years old. I have not used that pc in a while because of laptop. I started using the desk top again, I did a full system restore and everything WENT fine until the next morning when I tried to turn the pc on, when I pushed the power button it would not turn on, however as I pushed the power button at the same time the FANS would come on until I let go of the button. A friend told me to replace the battery inside the gateway on the mother board. I replaced it by unplugging everything then installing when I went to turn it on only the fans came on and they would remain on. Only way to turn off is by unplugging the pc.

Does anyone have any clues what it could be? I NEVER had this happen to me and I am not a computer guru. Its a gateway with windows vista and is only three years old. any advice would be great.Borrow a known good PSU of the same or greater wattage and swap it in there overnite...
You'll know right away if this is the issue.Does it beep when you turn it on? If so, then maybe you should try a different graphics card. If it has onboard graphics, then try that.
