Answer» i am almost positive i've used the internal mic on this gateway before, the sticker on the bottom SAYS model no. MA 3 and model MT6459 but now when i go to start menu, programs, accessories, sound recorder, a message pops up that says a sound recording device cannot be found. in the sound menu, recording tab, the only recording device is an external device with no option for internal whatsoever. how do i help the COMPUTER find my internal mic? Thanks chillybeanie
ps, have made sure my DRIVERS are indeed automatically updated, and windows 7 and IEI had a similar issue when upgrading from XP Pro to Windows 7 with my realtek chipset. Did this computer originally come with a DIFFERENT operating system than 7? My fix was to buy a $10 USB audio adapter that gave me MIC and Headphone jacks, then plug into that for MIC support since even the realtek drivers from realtek were only as new as Vista with no Windows 7 option available for my chipset. Tried Vista driver on Win 7 and audio would work, but no Mic. Got message of no recording device found just like you!could be, had a prior owner. alright, i can use the jack for an external mic if i must but if anyone ELSE knows how to wake my computer up to the parts it has forgotten it has i would be extremely grateful
