Solve : GeForce 9500GT......or 9500M GS ????

Answer»

Hey guys...

Recently I bought a "GEFORCE 9500GT 512MB DDR3" Here is a link to the page

I installed the drivers and everything...Just to have it tell me, it not what it appears on the surface...see attached the GPU-z screenie.

I tried google...not really many results or help.

Anyone have any clue what this is?

[attachment deleted by admin]Does that little 512mb Sticker actually APPEAR on the hardware, that is in the picture in the link you have provided?

And can you do a uninstall and restart to see if windows picks it up properly the next time around?I have tried a lot of things...

I actually took the card out and inspected it, it only has 2 actual memory chips, where there should be 6-8...

So, looks like I've been duped.

I'll TRY get it replaced for a REAL 9500GT, failing that, a refund.Generally CPU-Z reports hardware very acurrately...
Sorry 'bout your luck. Quote from: patio on MAY 08, 2009, 07:11:55 AM

yea...He promised to refund my money though, thankfully.

It is interesting to NOTE though...some smart person reflashed the BIOS of the cart to report a 9500GT with 512MB or RAM, and yet it runs a 9500m GS GPU...on a card?

So there must be some type of transferrance between a dedicated onboard to PCI-e somehow. The 256Mg cards actually only needed a flash to go to 512 Mg for quite some time...
This was a well kept Industry secret as it cost the same to crank out a gazillion 512Mg cards and throttle them back rather than having 2 different production runs...
Unfortunately because your card is actually a 128Mg this will not apply here.Yep, I even checked the GPU...it's a laptop chipset soldered to a PCI-e Board

Didn't even know this was possible...anyway, refund for me!
