Answer» Just 2 minutes before now, I was only watching a video file in Windows (XP), and the ENTIRE screen suddenly changed to a strange field of multi-coloured pixels. The sound from the video still played, however the display looked corrupted.
I held the power button to shut the computer down, then rebooted, going into the BIOS.
The display seemed fine after checking the BIOS, booting into Windows.
I thought that the problem may be from my graphics card. (near 4 years old) [Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX 512]
The card runs at 32-35 degrees Celcius at idle, and around 55-65 degrees at load.
I had been running a stable slight overclock with Core frequency @ 560Mhz and Memory frequency (slight underclock than stock) @ 1680 mhz.
Would this mean I have to replace the card soon? (I am already in planning to buy its replacement - HD 4850 512).
Any help given is appreciated.Cards don't always warn when they're getting ready to head South... Some will show symptoms that GET progressively worse while others will just give up the ghost all at once... I'd say keep using it while saving up for a new one... Make sure to check the power REQUIREMENTS on the new one and that your PSU will handle it.
Good Luck.
