Solve : Graphics Adapter?

Answer»

Our old P3 866 just crashed and burnt.  I have formatted the hard drive and reloaded Win98 from scratch.  All is ok, except the GRAPHICS.  I cannot seem to get the graphics adapter correct.  Currently I have it set at a Standard PCI adapter but this only gives me the lowest resolution at 16 colours which is useless.  i have the correct DRIVERS for my monitor loaded etc.  How do i work out what the graphics adapter MANUFACTURER/type is so that i can set the correct one so i can get the display back to a useful level.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

GraemeGraeme......Do you have the latest drivers loaded for your vid card ........that may well be the problem.
let us know

dl65  Usually, the videocard's manufacturer or brand is PRINTED on the card. I suggest you start your search there.

Device Manager may also show you what brand or name your card has.I have the exact same problem.  I started a new job as the "accountant" and became the "IT" guy. (small company)  We have a small 4 station network and one computer was crashing hourly.  It looked to me like toooooooo much junk was loaded, but the graphics were OK. (at least 600x800)  I formated the hard drive and reloaded Win 98.  Now the best I get is 16 COLOR 480x600???

JayAnd you installed videocard drivers?Sorry for my lack of experience.  How do I determine what the videocard is and if the drivers are installed?Graeme/jaykafarski  info for both of you type msinfo32 in the run  box ....it will show everything about you pc .....by the way have you install directx? all ways load the drivers first then the hardwareif you have a plug-in..that is..also you may allready have the graphics drivers on disk...?
