Try playing on the higher resolution on absotule minimum settings, and SEE if the problem is still there. I think you can FORCE battlefield 2 to use whatever resolution you want.

I can play 1600x1200 (which is the closest res. supported in bf2 to my MONITOR) on med settings with x2 AA. I wish I could force it to 1680x1050.You can try editing the video.con file in my DOCUMENTS and settings/%username/battlefield2/profiles/%profile and add the resolution of your choosing. Probably won't work, though.
