Solve : Green Lines all over screen on SafeMode Startup?

Answer»

AMD Athlon XP Pro (5.1.2600) SP2 2500+ 1833 MHz (Barton)
512 KB L2 Cache, 1024 MB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 (128)

For a while now whenever I start my computer it will start up with all these flashing foregn characters and I can only see a couple things and if I let it run it will not finish the Windows XP loading scheme but will cut out and a blue screen will pop up saying the DEVICE driver got stuck in an infinity loop and I have to restart it in safe mode wich allows me to GO online but there are still these green lnes and funky crap all over my screen...does anyone have any recommendations or advice on what to do about this? The exact content of the blue screen is very important. Try rolling back the drivers to ver 5672.thanks for the quick reply...the exact message is as follows:

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damge to your computer
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: nv4_disp

The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device itself or the device driver programming
the hardware incorrectly.

Boot to Safe Mode and remove all traces of the Nvidia drivers. Reboot, search for the set that I mentioned above and install those.
Do not download drivers from Windows Update!
