Solve : Guide on how to install new HDD!?

Answer»

My HDD on my Toshiba Dynabook satellite laptop got bad,i bought a new 40GB Toshiba HDD(MK4032GAX).
i've REMOVED the old one, inserted the new one in place.I put the laptop on but nothing displays on the screen. But the HDD led remains on INDICATING that it is being accessed. But the screen seems dead.
But on removing the HDD the Screen comes back. But reports #HDD0 error!
I DONT know whether there is any special way to installing the NEWLY bought HDD.Please i will be sincerely grateful if anynoe could offer me a help.!You do have an other HDD for Windows do you?

Jonas Normally.....and I say normally because I'm not 100% positive on all notebook systems, all you gotta do is swap out the HDD and reinstall Windows on the new one. If you're getting no video or you don't even know if the computer is POSTing then check the System Setup or BIOS screen without any HDD to SEE if there are any options for a new HDD on the system. You could also try resetting to Defaults in case anything changed in there........if all that fails, then u might've bought a bad HDD.Well you did install windows on the new one?
It could be that the BIOS is blocking the HDD I had the same problem with a DVD reader a while ago.

Jonas You should have a CD that shipped with the new HDD...boot with this in the drive and use the utilities to prepare the drive for an OS install...No i have not installed any O/S on the newly bought HDD.
If i insert it in the laptopm, the laptop starts with the HDD led being on continiously, the CPU fan working, but the Screen is blank.
On removing the HDD,the Screen Shows up.I dont know what to do.
Needed urgent help.Without an OS you can't do much.
Set you BIOS to boot from disk.
Insert an OS drive and you're good to go.

Jonas I've set the the BIOS to boot from HDD,but nothing sems to work!
