Answer» Worked well for 1 week. Now hangs before XP boots.
motherboard........MSI K8N Neo4 Bios.......................PHEONIX D686 chipset..................nVidea nForce4 Ultra\Standard cpu........................AMD64 3000 90MM memory.................Patriot 2x512mb pc3200 400mhz DDR video......................Leadtek PCIE with nVidea Geforce 6600 chip & 256MB ram
After hanging for a hour at the black & white screen, with neither mouse or keyboard influencing it, the computer suddenly finished booting XP. It then booted 3 times in a row. I then added a second EIDE hard drive configured as a slave. The drive was set up correctly by CMOS auto detect. But, once again the computer is hanging on the same screen. ALTHOUGH I notice that this time the line "Verifying DMI Pool Data ........" lacks "successful" after the dots. But it's still hanging at the next line "Boot from CD:" with a flashing curser. Ideas? ThanksI found the solution to my problem. It was a faulty EIDE cable.or not contected properly?.........like the red-stripe on the ide-cable go to next to the red power lead for the drive..i would check the gaphics card........has not become unseated..or loose.
