HI All, new here. I have just received a new PC and all is just great except that the PS2 optical mouse hangs every now and then for up to 30 seconds. The mouse wheel and even the click works when it does this, but the position freezes.  Seems to happen more on the desktop (Windows XP) than elsewhere.

A colleague at work has the same problem - except worse (longer hangs). I guess I could swap mouses but I suspect its a settng or a conflict or somehng else that I don't KNOW (I very much doubt its a VIRUS - started before I even connected for the first time).

Yes I did, I installed, re-installed and then eventually went back and got a replacement mouse (another species) installed it from disk, got drivers from the web and installed those and it still does it. With my old ball-mouse - np. Its just with optical mouses.

Are you certain it is the mouse and not the computer?Thanks for advice all - no its not a virus. I swapped back to my old ball mouse and no prblems. Its just with the optical PS/2 mouse. Even tried a new one - same thing.
Seems to be some incomaptibitity or some conflict. So, problem stoll not resolved.did the mouse come with a driver disk? and thanks for the feedback..some dont BOTHER?
