Answer»

i have a laptop from HP... and my hard disk(60GB) is samsung.....wen i tried to self TEST my hard disk, i got a read failure...

how to attempt for it's solution.....the technician told me that my HDD had probably got bad sectors....

any reply....PLZZ do help...Bad Sector is an indication your hard disk is in its last leg. My advice, backup IMPORTANT data before it suddenly crashes beyond remedy. You can format from DOS with the "fdisk" command, then you type Format C:/sthanx...buddy thanx a lot......All drives get/have bad sectors...this does not neccessarily mean the drive is failing...
I would DLoad and run the FREE diagnostics from the drive manuf. site.Quote from: patio on January 04, 2009, 12:12:31 PM

perhaps not the last leg, but I'd say it's running it's last few laps...

Although I did use two hard drives with bad sectors for several years after they developed them. NERVOUSLY, but they worked.I have a 720M HDD i still run that was diagnosed with bad sectors back when Duke Nukem first came out...

When offering help it is a good idea to make it as accurate as you can. It is lame not to. You are sitting at a computer. Get it right in the DOS box before posting.Thought it was right! Course you must be perfecto!4fingerlid,trizle, and countless others... is this a yearly thing?"4fingerlid,trizle, and countless others... is this a yearly thing?"

What's that supposed to mean? I don't appreciate being called lame for a simple mistake!
Also I don't appreciate your comment about missing toes. It's no fun! Try it sometime!

if it needs explaining then you aren't part of my target audience. Others will know what I mean.

and it's actually a signature.

And I'm not changing it. Although, come it think of it, it's about time for a change...
