Answer» I have a SAMSUNG SV0411N ATA IDE hard disk, just enough to meet my memory needs. the problem is it doesn't get detected, there is no mention of the DEVICE in MY Computer. I tried to install XP on it, but set up displayed a message saying it could not read the drive. I used Vista disk management, from another HDD and in disk management, the disk finally showed up. but as soon as i start disk management, it asks me to innitialize the disk, i click OK, it returns data error (CRC). and then in the disk management window the disk SHOWS up as a 37 GB unallocated space. when i try to create a new SIMPLE volume, it says "operation cannot be COMPLETED because the disk is not innitialized" Chkdsk dosen't read the drives, the samsung doesn't even have a drive name yet. In disk management, right-click on the drive and format it.
