Answer» I have an old laptop and I cannot GET into hard DRIVE. The INTERNAL battery (for the battery backed memory) is dead and it cannot remember any of the HD information. I would like to know how I can get the configuration information. The automatic hard drive detection can not figure out the information its self. I believe it is a 1993 laptop and it has Phoenix BIOS software on it. Any help is welcome!
Thanks in advanced!Unfortunately, no. You need to have a good internal battery to retain these settings. Once REPLACED, you can reset, once you find out what they are (unless it defaults to them automatically as some do).So there is no way I can find the hard drive configuration information that I need?
(the heads, landing zone, etc...)Try the hard drive manufacturer's WEB site for the specifics. Some drives have these things printed on them.
