Solve : Hard Drive - Disk Management Option - Dynamic / Offline? |
|
Answer» Dear All, This problem is Most hot topic in most of the forums. Any one with best suggestion is most appretiated. I have a system with Two Sata Disk Drives in it ( Samsung 40gb OS Installed - 80gb Samsung for data storage.) The Operating system is Win2000 and second drive is a Dynamic drive. Recently I have an instance to BACK my data on my both drives to other system as i want to use a VISTA system. I have removed both the drives and backed the first drive with OS 2000 in to my vista system by connecting the drive as slave to that system. But when i tried to connect the second hard drive which was a dynamic drive on my old system, COULD not able to be seen in the my computer. but the drive was been detected by the PC and in Disk Management Option of administrative tools, was seen as Dynamic / Forine drive. i removed that drive and connected back to my old system, EVEN this time it could not be seen in my computer and was detected and shown as dynamic / offline in Disk Management Option. More over I tried do all the option like Re activate the disk and Import the forine disk but was invain. I have left only with option that revert to basic disk. But was got some information from support.microsoft.com that by converting it back to basic disk will lost my data on the drive. This situation is worse for me as i have got my three years work on the drive. Any positive suggestion is most appreatiated. With Rgd Kartheek MHook it up as a slave drive and retrieve your data...i suggest purchasing a DVD burner for burning your backups as ALL hard drives eventually fail. The problem you are having is that with any Windows OS from Win2K on you cannot simply swap a hard drive from one machine to another and expect it to boot properly...it simply won't work and as MS said you risk losing all your data. This is by design. |
