Answer» Panasonic laptop with a Toshiba HD. Did some research and tried several suggestions from other threads. Tried the freezer TRICK, did not work. BOUGHT a external HD kit and plugged in the drive. The window popped up and recognized the new hardware, installed files, but I was unable to see the new drive. Tried this a few times, when plugging in the old drive, the light on the case starts red, the unit starts up, but sounds scratchy, it stops and the light turns green. At one point a window did POP up and found new hardware, a Toshiba drive, but soon disappeared. I do have the external unit plugged in with both USB cords. I do realize I may not be able to recover data from this drive, but I figured someone may have a good suggestion before I GIVE up.I think you have exhausted the bag of tricks. If it is not seen correctly in the BIOS, everything else is irrelevant.
