Solve : Hard drive failure imminent?

Answer»

Been getting this message RECENTLY about my hard drive failing soon and to backup all my documents etc.
I ran a self test from the bios and it failed both.
Is there a way to test if it's actually failing (since I'm on it right now and haven't noticed anything amiss)?

If it is actually failing could someone suggest what harddrive to purchase? I've never bought a hard drive before and was wondering if there was something I should know before going out and buying the first one I see at a decent price.

I also included my dxdiag as an attachment in case ANYONE needs to see more information on my system.

Thanks for reading and hopefully we can get this sorted out.

Good ADVICE!Maxtor was acquired by Seagate in 2006.    Samsung is another option.  My bias is toward Western Digital.  But, if I saw a promotional sales price on any of them, I might take the deal.

Take a look at the warranty period also, when SHOPPING.  It may vary by make and model.
