Answer» Here is the problem. Son in law has a connor HD from MacPlus system. on which he has CV and other Thesis data that he would like to retrieve.
Has tried the MacOpener route, as well as other file openers without success.
Now as a last hope he is trying to get to this drive via DOS 6.2
Has installed the HD as a SCSI drive through ADAPTEC 2910 PCI card. with DOS drivers.
Has been able to Identify in Autoexec.bat and or Config.sys the Card.
So far he is able to get the IDE HD as C: drive identified. Nothing else on this HD except DOS 6.2
What is the line to use in Autoexec.bat and/or Config.sys to have system recognise the SCSI srive as D:\ drive and the CD rom as E:\ Drive.
I guess that what he would require is the listing of autoexec.bat and config.sys to configure recognition of the two Hard drives, and CDROM drive.
Allowing him to transfer the files from the SCSI drive to IDE and/or CDROM
Your input, assistance is greatly appreciated.
try posting this in the mac/apple section insted u should get more help from thereThis data recovery attempt needs to be done on a Mac system as that's what type of file system being used. There are conversion programs but you risk making a mess of it and losing all the data.did as suggested. But this is DOS oriented as not using ANYTHING but a SCSI Hard Drive, that is connected to a PCI card in a PC environment Case without any WINDOWS being loaded... only DOS 6.2..
Or am I ?
The idea is to get the files off the SCSI onto IDE and or CDROM. Than the files can be recognized by MacOpener (licensed) and/or other converters.
As of now, through winXP, or Win98, have not been able to get the SCSI drive to be recognized. Therefore cannot read what is on drive and transfer DATA only.
In the Mac Plus, the drive functions perfectly and can see the files, which were made in WP 5.0 DOS. and have the Disks for this version.
That's the reason of going pure DOS route.
Still not sure of the method but if you insist i'll go along...are there SCSI drivers being loaded on startup on the PC ? ?Patio, yes the SCSI drivers are loaded.
But
What is the line to use in Autoexec.bat and/or Config.sys to have system recognize the SCSI Drive as D:\ drive CD rom as E:\ Drive.
I guess that what i am asking for is the listing of autoexec.bat and config.sys to configure recognition of the two Hard drives, and CDrom drive.According to the boot ORDER is what will determine how DOS sees each drive designation... To find out which is which you can from a C: prompt type D: and hit enter and then dir /p and enter again which will show each drive's contents... This should give you a clue as to which drive is being given which letter designation.Patio
I have gone into autoexec.bat and config sys... but I am missing a command to have the Hard Drive being recognized. have been successful to recognize the CD Rom and the IDE drive... but there has to be a " device=xxxxxxxxxx" for the second.HD
When I go over I will write down the lines from these two files and re=post, to see which command is missing for recognition.
so close.... yet sooooo far.
