Solve : Hard Drive Install?

Answer»

Hello everyone hoping you can help me again i installed a second hard drive in my computer and made it the slave. Windows recognizes the drive and says it is working PROPERLY but my total space as not CHANGED at all. I went through add hardware and that still doesn't help me hoping one of you guys can.reboot pc......now see.....rebotted and still nothing. When i bought it the guy at the store was saying something about going into the C drive propertires and switching something so the computer will use both at the same time. You can only get a total for each drive independently. I have NEVER seen them added.

Download Belarc Advisor for free at www.belarc.com and see about the various sizes of your drives, USED and unused portions, etc.i dont even have a seperate drive in the My Computer folderWhat kind of computer? What kind of hard drive? You see both drives in the BIOS/setup screen? You are sure that both drives are jumpered correctly and connections snug? That HDD needs to be properly partitioned and formatted before Windows will recognise it ...
Use the utility that shipped with the HDD.

patio.  Did you change the first drive's jumper to Master?

Can you see the drive and unallocated space in Disk Management?

If yes, Can you assign the drive a letter and then make a partition(s) and format them?

Is the slave drive connected to the intermediate grey colored connector on the IDE cable? And if you want the 2 drives to "appear" as joined, you will have to have a RAID controller, either onboard or an add in card. Then you will need to set it up as RAID 0.Is this for XP Professsional?
