how do i set two hard drives one master, one SLAVE and what do i install on this ?

would the computer be faster ?

what do i put on the master drive ?

what do i put on the slave drive ?

i got xp home, pIII with 1 ghz 384ram

can this be done, with a 30 gb & 80 gb

1) Set the jumpers on the drive..one set to Master...one to Slave.

2) No...the computer won't be faster.

3) Anything your heart desires.

5) Yes, it can be done.The usual setup would be to install your operating system on the master and then using the slave for storage. Although the is no reason you couldn't do it the other way around.
The mere act of adding a slave device will not make the computer faster, but if you add a hard drive that is faster than your current then yes it could improve performance.

The size of the hard drives isn't important, it is whether they're COMPATIBLE with your computer that MATTERS. (They probably are though.)
