Solve : Hard Drive to Hard Drive Help?

Answer»

I need some help. . . I just bought a new computer and need to transfer all files and almost all PROGRAMS from my old computers hard drive to my new computers hard drive.

I've read about how to copy everything from one drive to the other but I do not want to transfer the WINDOWS OS to my new computer. I've been using a USB drive and have started with the files but it takes a long time, is there an easier quicker way to perform this??

Any info will be a great help, thanks.

1) Programs need to be reinstalled

They are great for backing up files, as well as transferring files as they can hold a tremendous amount of data. Plus, they are good to have for the future when your HD FILLS up.

The link that Allen has posted, if you CLICK on the CNET link (should be the top google choice), it gives a lot of good ideas/info.Quote from: jblab on May 23, 2010, 01:33:54 PM

Hard to ARGUE with that. I have a number of external drives and am confident all of my data are safe.
