Solve : Hard Drive to USB Port?

Answer»

Got a new computer. Took the hard drive out of my old one, put it in a drive enclosure and connected it to a USB port on my new computer so I could xfer FILES from the old to the new. The new computer RECOGNIZED the old drive (MAXTOR), configured a driver for it, then SAID it was ready to use but I can’t see it in Windows Explorer. Disk Manager SAYS the drive is running and there’s no problem with it. Before putting the old drive into the enclosure, I SET the jumper config to slave. Did I miss doing something here?Quote

Is that the correct setting? I would think it should be master, but I'm not absolutely sure. But, it makes sense, I think. Why would a drive in a USB enclosure be configured as slave?
It should be master if it is an external drive.
