Solve : Harddrive Interface Compatability?

Answer»

Hello:

Need to replace a laptop hard-drive that uses ATA-5. New hard-drives are designed with ATA-6.

Is ATA-6 interface on harddrive compatible with an old ATA-5 interface in the laptop?

Thank You for the help.

THE COMPUTER SUSTAINED A SHOCK (Physical).
I AM ASSISTING A FRIEND WITH IT.
I TRIED THE HDD IN MY LAPTOP AND IT DIDN'T SHOW-UP THERE EITHER. THAT IS WHY I CONCLUDED THAT THE DRIVE IS DEAD.
My friend asked if there was anyway to recover data from a dead drive...I told him NO...Not if BIOS doesn't even see the drive anymore. I also told him that the drive itself could NOT be opened and repaired in anyway.

Thanks Again for the time and advice.
