Solve : Hardrive?

Answer»

im just wondering how can you tell if your hard drive is going to crash? are there any noises you might hear or anything. i used the search but i either got too many matches or non at all.It will start to MAKE loud clicking noises. Best I can describe it.A hard drive that 'crashes' due to age or wear will do a range of things, from emitting high pitched whirring noises to clicks and such from the bearings inside wearing out.

When the bearings wear out, generally the thin disks inside won't spin correctly. You'll know when this happens, haha.save anything WORTH keeping from that hard drive asapYou could download a hard drive diagnostic tool from the manufacturer's website. But, it doesn't sound good, based on your DESCRIPTION. Do what honvetops said, ASAP.Bad SECTORS are often an omen.

HDD's make all sorts of noise, I have an HDD that SAYS "Ignore the clicking noise" on a sticker, so I wouldn't put too much faith in an audio-diagnosis.
