Also depending on what hardrive I upgrade to cant I use software on their site to transfer my windows XP home edition to the new hardrive?eMachines IMPERIAL GL Also depending on what hardrive I upgrade to cant I use software on their site to transfer my windows XP home edition to the new hardrive?Yes, you can use their software to do that.Emailed Emachine help and support and got this back CPU Socket/Slot Type: mPGA 478 and it should not be over 2.0 Ghz. I am a newbie to this and dont know what that means. My question was could I put a Pentium 4 into my emachine that has a celeron processor could anyone tell me if I can or not a simple yes or no will do.Quote from: rockstar4cs on July 29, 2008, 10:33:47 PM Emailed Emachine help and support and got this backBased on their answer - Yes - but not over 2.0 GHZ in speed. You NEED a P4 for a 478 socket. What happened to the hard drive? You may have to go the ebay.com route for a processor. I see all the 478 socket processors sold by newegg.com are 2.5GHz or higher. I gave my friend a few months ago a dell optiplex GX260 he needed a quick fix and I gave it to him cheap. The hardrive recently started acting up on it and I think it has the pentium 4 I need so I'll mostlikly end up getting it off him. If I was to get the chip off him look up a toturial and put in the new processor. Where would I get a flash for my bios so it could handle that? Be SURE to get the right update for your computer.I wish people would not write "hardrive" when they mean "hard drive". |
