Solve : Hardware does not supprot modem??

Answer»

I have a Pent II cpu with a AMR modem, I've had this for 4 years Tried to go on line the other date (AOL ISP) and got these error MESSAGES: HARDWARE CAN'T SUPPORT MODEM, CAN'T LOAD STREAM MANAGER. I WENT through Window 98 and check the modem, check more info and got the same messages. Removed and added it again and still get the same messages. Is it the internal modem gone bad or do I have other hardware problems. Hate to pay another mofem if I have other problems, ie motherboard.jet0653..... Is the modem .....a pci modem ?

When was the last time it worked ?

Does you PC work ok when its off line ?

dl65  Yes, it's a pci modem. It worked as of about a week ago when I was last on it. And yes the computer still works fine off line. Any help would be appreciated, Thanksjet0653... Ok .....I would say your hardware is probably ok ......

Have you tried creating a new connection .........sometimes that will fix up that kind of a problem ......... Just use the create a connection wizard

dl65  Yes, I've already tried that and still received the same messages. I've tried everything but installing a new modem. I was wanting to get another opinion before I did that. So what do you think? It's most likely AOL software.are you streaming dvds to people??No, I'm not streaming DVD.  As far as the AOL, I've tried to go through Windows to remove and add the modem back in and I still get the same messages.
