Solve : hardware problem ???

Answer»

how can I tell if my motherboard and cpu are going out ?
or if it is the hard DRIVE ? or all of it ?
I am running a  ECS K7S5A MB and a AMD Athlon 1800 XP CPU . I have replaced the powersource and the battery. I keep it up to date. run ALL virus scans and hardware moniters. NOTHING shows up as being bad.
the date and time reverts to Dec 15,2001 and I lose all
BIOS and other settings.    puter_rage ......What O/S are you using ?

Will the pc boot up ok ....despite the wrong date ?

What happens when you change the time and date to the correct one ?

let us know

dl65  Your CMOS battery may be empty.

I suggest you refer to the mainboard manual to see where the CMOS battery is located and then replace it.

The correct name for the CMOS battery WOULD be CR2032. This will be understood by any sales person who sells batteries.

Be aware of electro-static discharge whilst working INSIDE a system case.dl65 and Raptor, I run with Win XP home edition. I have replaced the battery ( I made sure it was a high $$$$$).
The puter boots up ok at times. then at times the CMOS and all the settings have a size "is wrong error". I have to boot it up by F8  for DEFAULT settings.
I appreciate the info and your help.
thanks  puter_rageHave you attempted to Flash your BIOS in the past?
