Solve : hardware problem reinstalling windows xp?

Answer»

I want to format c: and reinstall windows xp

I change boot order in bios to boot cdrom with win xp in
windows boots up from CD but says it can't find any hard drives

I open up the tower and whoever set this COMPUTER up put the main ide cable to cdrom and the hard drive is connected to pri RAID on motherboard. Because this seems a bit wierd I switched the cables so that the hard drive is now connected to PRI_IDE1 and cdrom is connected to PRI_RAID. I try to load windows through cdrom. Just after it loads I get an error page that says it shuts windows down because of a 0XC00000034 fault. Googled it and I believe the fault is that the hard drive is not set up properly. BTW I can access windows through hard drive and use my CD-ROM as near normal except for a windows messege saying that there was a major change in hard ware and I have to re-activate windows.

I would IMAGINE the problem is in the physical setup and through bios but the original set up I can't get windows cd to see hard drive and through the way the cables should be set up caused the critical error... any ideas, or should I just bite the BULLET and take it to a computer tech?oh yeah, lets get specs:

mobo ASUS P5GD1
Hard drive: Barracuda 7200 model number ST3200822A
CD-ROM ATAPI DVD DDSet it back to RAID on the controller card and re-boot to the XP CD...early on there will be a prompt for the RAID drivers...have that floppy handy.

patio. 8-)If it worked before; set it back. If it didn't; configure your BIOS.
