Solve : Have you seen the spiral-shaped energy-saving light bulbs? Have you tried them?? |
|
Answer» I agree with ZYLSTRA. I don't like the color of them. They give me a headache. Unfortunately, my dad insists on putting them everywhere in the house (including the bathroom... as if it wasn't dark enough already). But, I use a regular incandescent bulb in the lamp i use to light my room. What are you on about? Homeless don't have light bulbs, silly! go to new york city, chicago, los angeles, any big city place, they flock to the warmth and confort a good 75 watt bulb produces, if it's under a street vent, look out, no room to SPARE!We'll keep some of the old type lights around for their sake. Besides, the homeless folks would probably be tempted to steal the more costly energy-saving lights and sell them on the black market. SO what are those that have energy-saving lights and where is the place I can buy that in black market.,.? _________________ I have replaced most almost all the bulb's in my house with the mini spiral flouresent's. The light output seemed a bit less to me, so I used the 75 watt replacement's instead of the 60's. They knocked about $20.00 a month off the power bill. 2012 will bring the end to incandesent's here in the US. Anyone that doesn't like the spiral flouresent's had better buy a lifetime supply before then or it will be too late. Quote from: patio on April 17, 2007, 07:57:07 PM Doesn't the wavelength of the light make the real difference here ? ? ?Yes. Incandescent are broad spectrum. Florescent have spectrum peaks. Incandescent lights have a lot of output at the low end. The infrared. You can't see it, so it is wasted energy. Sometimes called "warm", standard tungsten bulbs tend to make things more red-orange colored. The florescent types have a lot of blue output and they tend to do funny things to colors. A lady with very red lipstick may appear to have purple lips. The newer ones have better color balance. I have these energy saving bulbs and they do take a little time to get to their full brightness. This can be a benefit when you first wake up and switch on the light as you don't get immediately BLINDED. In the ceiling fan in my living room I happen to have one 60 watt energy saving bulb and one 60 watt normal bulb and I have noticed no difference in how bright they get.I'm just relieved that this 2 year old Topic is FINALLY getting the attention it deserves... Dang it man. I usually look at the dates and don't bother with really old topics. I guess this one got by me. Haha this is ollldd! Well I guess i will answer anyways. I got a couple of em and they are not bright enough for me. YOU KNOW THOSE PLASMA BALLS? You can buy them at science stores and such, when you put your hand on it the beans focus on your hands? it's pretty cool. Anyways. When you put a Fluorescent bulb on the ball, it will light up. I'm not sure why.. Look's like I'm gonna have to pay a little more attention to the dates! lol BTW - The 2012 phaseout of regular light bulb's was announced on our local news a good while back when they were talking about the analog tv signal phaseout. That's all the info I have on it & I haven't really searched for any more. |
