Solve : Having a problem with my moniter and/or video card.... help please?

Answer»

I'm having a problem with my moniter.... a "frequency out of range" problem. It occurs when i try to run certain games...the games are "settlers 5" and the "total war-Rome" line of products. These games both worked for a while and then out of the blue the error started to occur I played the total war game for a month before it occurred and i played the settlers game for a day... i goggled the problem and tried to trouble shoot it myself but to no avail. I've reset my display properties and lowered the refresh RATE and set back a system restore to when the games did work, I also reinstalled the programs and updated drivers....I'm running xp and the graphics card is an Intel Extreme Graphics 2 (Intel 82865G) and the processor is an Intel Celeron 2.53 Ghz... have tried everything i can think of and nothing seems to work if anyone can help i would be grateful

thanks

JoetheCookstill trying to figure this one out ANYBODY GOT any cluesIt may be an isuue with overheating. Download speedfan and post back with your temps.

Can you access any in game menus? If so, try changing the resolution from there, that's one possible fix.
It may help to update your monitor drivers if any are available, what's your monitor?
Have you definitely got the latest drivers for your graphics chip?try setting up ur screen resolution and changing your monitor's refresh rateQuote from: ecxzqute on November 10, 2008, 04:09:28 AM

That's already been tried.Have you tried uninstalling it and re install it again? Their might be some errors upon installing the game. Or maybe your graphic card is not capable in supporting the said game. Ok folks.....

I tried the overheating thing....it's not that...Also one of the games has an in-game system requirment checker thingy and it says that my system meets the specs for the game....I tried uninstalling and reinstalling games...nothin' doin'....I called Dell and they won't help me or even answer one darn question for less than 60 bucks...nor was intel tech support willing to help either (was on the phone with them for an hour)...seems there is no answer to my problemQuote from: Calum on November 10, 2008, 03:02:43 AM

I definetly have the updated drivers for the video card and my moniter is the default dell that is only about 2 years old...the one game has a menu to readjust resolution that didn't help. It even has a system checker and it tells me that the game should run on my box...don't think there are drivers for the moniter but could be wrong and don't really understand how to go about thatOK, I'm sorry but I don't think I can help you any further, I'm really not sure what's causing this issue.
Hopefully someone else will be able to help you out, I'll keep watching and if anything occurs to me, I'll psot in here.
Good luck, and I'm sorry I couldn't help.man....this sucks

Thanks to everyone who responded to this post but it's seems i'll never get to the bottom of itYou have integrated graphics not a graphics card...
Since it's a Dell only Dell drivers should be used...Dell's are very picky about this.
