i have a maxtor HD which i bought new not so long ago.
It runs windows and most programs ok but for some REASON with most of my games and other such programs i keep getting an error thats along the lines of saying that the install media/file is corrupt. This has been happening with Brand Brand new games. I thought it was a one off at first, but it kept happening with all my games. so i thought it was my version of windows so i formatted it and installed Vista (as i had also picked up a winantivirus style virus when i reconnected to internet 2 days ago) So with a clean install i thought i wouldnt have any PROBLEMS, but low and behold theres the same error, so i think its the HD rather then windows. And its not just new games either it has effected new games like World in Conflict and old games like Homeworld 2.So, what is the model number of your hard drive?

the computer?Well the computer is HAND built by myself, and is about 2 months old.
It has an ASUS A8n32-SLI Deluxe motherboard with 2 geforce 8600 graphics cards about 700mb of ram and a AMD athlon duel core 4200 X2 processor and the number for my hd i think is Maxtor 6L080L0 ATA driveMaxtors are known to run hot. I had a 40 GB Maxtor fail a couple of months ago. Have you got any HD temp monitoring software? If the disk is only 2 months old you can get a warranty replacement I should think.
