Solve : HELP!-computer display disabled-how do I get it back on??

Answer»

While trying to get our computer to recognize the attached monitor, I regretfully disabled the monitor thinking it would then maybe pick up the attached monitor. Now the screen is black. When the computer reboots, all the initial screens are visible up to the windows XP banner and then when it should be showing the desktop, it goes black.

I have tried changing monitors, rebooting in safe mode, last known good config, etc. but NOTHING but black screen. How do I fix this please!! It is the only computer we have that runs my daughter's chemistry homework and I am desperate.

Gateway GM5260 Computer, windows xpTry this. As soon as you see the XP Logo (before the screen goes dark) hold down the LEFT CTRL key on the keyboard and continue to hold it down until the system finishes booting to the gui. I don't really expect it to work but it's easy enough to try.

If that does not work we'll try a repair install.I prayed first but it STILL didn't work

you need a new VIDEO card.
win boothing the computer sneds its data deracly to the monater.
to display the gui it need the video card.
so if it desplay the boot stuff but not the desk top then the vido card is busted and you will have to by a new one.Ignore the above post.
