the display on the monitor is completely purple no icons or BARS at all it has a smaller different color window in the middle when I go into safe mode I get the same thing its an older computer with WINDOWS 98 I've tried using a different monitor that works well and I get the same thing I'm able to SEE the Windows 98 logo window when its BOOTING but then it immediately turns purple
my sister's kids use for playing games only I think it happened when they were playing a game but no sure - HELP!!

Since you have tried 2 monitors and they both did the same thing i would guess it's your graphics card/onboard.
Re-install your video drivers...can it be done from a command propmt? that is the only one that I can access from the startup menu.
