Answer» hi i recently left a dvd on pause for a while on my laptop and after a while it made a lound alarm sound then shut down,(guessing it overheated) i noticed the fan wasnt working so i replaced it with another fan, now that fan works but it still makes the sound and shuts down i have done chkdsk and i have no corrupted files any ideas pls any 1, thanks in advanceSince it's a Laptop, try removing the battery pack and direct connect AC Adapter plug and check the difference. It might be a Battery Alarm set or you could try adjusting Power Options if certain features are available here --> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc958137.aspxhi thanks for the reply, i tried removing battery but was still the same and the laptop wont stay on long enough for me to get into the settings, but i do remember choosing (never turn off ) in all boxes before so i am really at loss now as to what 2 do any further help would be GREAT, if not thanks so much for trying 2 help The thing that will cause a sound alarm would be the battery alarm(Low battery and Critical battery alarm) slider MAYBE up to max. instead of being atleast 5% and setting on alarm action is shutdown. How long after BOOTING does the alarm sounds?i START it up and it loads my desktop the fan kicks in as normal then it makes that loud noise and just shuts offIt's overheating... With many laptops unfortunately the best way to properly clean them out is to let the shop handle it...
They have many tiny ILL designed screws holding it all together....
