Answer» is my GPU dead ?
Hello I have a PC with an MSI R9 290 in it Two wings from one of the two fans about two months ago and I USED a software (MSI afterburner) to limit my fan speed so that it wont make a lot of noise and vibration but without letting the temps go too crazy as they usually are around the 74-82C depending on the room temp. Please note that I don't play that much anymore and my gaming sessions don't exceed 3 hours. Yesterday I was playing a game (fortnite) and I died so I got really mad and hit my desk, my computer immediately shut down and when I tried to start it after it just kept rebooting without anything showing up on the SCREEN, when I took my graphics card out, my PC works fine.. I opened the GPU and nothing looked fried and no smell or anything and when I put it back in my PC it still won't start but please note that the fans do spin. I am willing to provide any pictures if needed. Thank you all.""so I got really mad and hit my desk, ""
Start lookin for a new card...Hi
A few things to check before getting a new card. You have the 6 and 8 pin cables plugged into the card ? These come direct from the power supply no adapters y cables etc? the power supply is a good quality 750 watt or higher? The motherboard power led is out before you removed/ inserted like the powersupply was turned off on the mains side. If not then try removing and inserting the gpu with the POWER OFF. Insure you are CONNECTING monitor via the display port or dvi connectors without adapters. These should be plugged in before turning on the power this is to allow the bios to detect the display connection is no longer to the motherboard but on the R9 card. keep us posted Hi again
